When he was 13 he was bullied and decided to train. Mati was so passionate about exploring the Martial Art world and was allowed to practice despite his young age in the late 1970’s by Dennis Hanoverand Yehuda Vas Dias. He started teaching at the age of 16 after receiving his black belt in Dennis Survival and Krav Maga, and soon at 18 earned his black belt in Japanese Ju Jitsu. During his service in the Israeli Defense Forces, he taught Krav Maga and Combat Fitness Training to the Israeli Special Units, and fought in the 1982 Lebanon War.
